Willow Beach was custom-built along the shores of Lake Austin located on the Westlake Peninsula close to downtown Austin. It got its name when the original owner planted willow trees on the property and used it as a weekend family “beach” retreat. Many of the willow trees still stand today.

This is one of the most coveted and iconic parcels on Lake Austin. The estate has two entrances, one for the main house and one for the guest house which interconnects via a pedestrian bridge once you are on the grounds. It is very private yet in a neighborhood setting situated on 8.8+ acres with 665+- feet of main body water frontage plus a large lagoon and boat canal. It is located less than 8 miles to downtown Austin with easy access to St. Stephens School and Austin Country Club in the heart of Westlake Hills.

Designed by Miró Rivera Architects and built by Don Crowell. Interiors were crafted by Fern Santini. Most of the furniture was hand-built and custom-designed for the house and can convey. The home took 11 years to construct from conception due to the required permitting since it is bordered by water on 3 sides and essentially an island.

The main residence was finally completed in 2010. It has been featured in Miró Rivera's architectural book of contemporary masterpieces and along with the guest house and pedestrian bridge has received numerous local, national, and international design awards. The guest house was featured in Architectural Digest.

The stone on the house is custom quarried rough-cut Lueders Limestone. All stone inside and outside is the same including the pillars at the cul-de-sac and gate along with all exterior walkways. Interior and exterior vertical walls are rough cut while horizontal surfaces are cut on all four sides to match perfectly.

The wood in the main house is African Sapele while the guest house wood is Brazilian Ipe. The main house wall is molded like the bow of a boat and is seamlessly curved and carries through the home from the inside to the outside met by glass. Venetian plaster walls and ceilings throughout.
Unique features include the powder room sink which is carved from a solid piece of rare black limestone. The owners handpicked the stone, shipped it from Italy, and cut it locally. The sink had to be brought into the house before walls were constructed because of the size and weight. The sink is cantilevered from the powder room wall. Same with the fireplace hearth which is a solid slab of book-matched soapstone. A cantilevered hidden stairway leads to a media/game room and office on the 2nd floor.

The 1,000 square-foot great room is enclosed by glass on both sides. The architecture frames the landscape, disappearing through the transparency of the glass walls. All bedroom windows frame views of the wetlands that line the private lagoon.

Willow Beach is a very special property and one-of-a-kind. There are many estates along with Lake Austin that are beautiful, but I think you will agree nothing compares to Willow Beach in design, water frontage, acreage size, and privacy in Westlake.

I can honestly say I have never walked a property more iconic and tranquil in nature, pictures simply do not do it justice.
